What data the app stores#
- Form submissions and contacts: what the visitor writes, encrypted.
- Visits: only with analytics consent. Pages viewed, channel and campaign, device, cart steps and the ID and total of orders. The visitor is identified by a pseudonymous code. No IP addresses, names or emails are stored from visits.
- The app doesn’t read your store’s customer list.
Your customers’ consent#
The app respects the consent choices your store records in Shopify. Turn on the cookie banner in Settings → Customer privacy or your theme’s. Without consent:
- Visits aren’t measured.
- No events go to Google or Meta.
- The WhatsApp message carries only the page, without the campaign or the visit code.
- Buttons and forms work the same.
Your privacy policy#
State in your store’s privacy policy that you use GOM Tools for forms, contacts, visit measurement and tracking events. It’s part of what you accept in the Terms of Service.
How long data is kept#
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Visits and events | Depending on your plan, 30 days to 13 months |
| Daily totals, without personal data | 14 months |
| Submissions discarded as spam | 30 days |
| Contacts and submissions | Until you delete them |
When you uninstall#
Buttons and forms stop showing right away. 48 hours later, Shopify notifies the app and all of your store’s data is deleted. If a customer asks your store to erase their data, Shopify notifies the app and their contact and submissions are deleted.
